Yet another METAMOMENT that required a post: last week, when everyone was happily watching South Park, my girl and I were hanging out at home talking and it came out in our discussion that she had never seen or heard of the Heavy Metal feature film, which resulted in a furious Wikipedia research session and a flurry of downloads from the original soundtrack. Unbenownst to us, Matt and Trey were airing their own homage to this classic animated film...AT THE SAME TIME. Post modern, right? Anyways, I was too young for the explicit nature of alot of the stories in the film when it first came out, but that didn't stop me from rocking the fuck out to the soundtrack. Blue Öyster Cult were totally badass with classic 70s neo-futurist album art, and lots of ominous sci-fi/occult story-telling type songs. And they had lasers.
